A message from the principal

Highlands Elementary is located in beautiful Highlands, NJ with panoramic views of the Hudson Bay and Sandy Hook. During the 2017-18 school year Highlands Elementary was recognized as a New Jersey Department of Education Lighthouse award-winning district for its academic growth through state assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics. We offer a high-quality education through a challenging curriculum that focuses on ensuring mastery in all academic areas. Our students are provided with STEAM related project-based learning activities through our Maker Space and Osprey Garden. We are a little school with a big heart that is comprised of preschool through grade six classrooms that are outfitted with 21stcentury technology to provide the most cutting-edge learning experience for our students. Highlands Elementary has been providing quality education for 86 years and our dedicated staff provides personalized learning for all of our students both during and beyond the scope of our school day. Highlands Elementary is also recognized for receiving the Safe Routes to School Award as well as a bronze level certification as a Sustainable NJ School for going green and conserving resources to create a brighter future.
