Christine Golembiewski

Mrs. Golembiewski

Have a happy and healthy summer!
Congratulations to our 6th graders!
We will miss you next year.

Our last cooking project was cupcakes which we made in our new convection oven! We used our measuring cups, measuring spoons and knowledge of reading fractions to create this yummy treat!

We will continue doing monthly cooking projects! We will plan our menu, make shopping lists, put the steps of the recipes in the correct order, prepare the food, eat it and finally complete a recipe reflection to evaluate how it all turned out.
So far we made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, frosted mini-cakes, bean and cheese nachos, strawberry milkshakes and chocolate pudding dirt cups

Thanks to a grant from the Henry Hudson
Tri-District Education Foundation, our class has ordered and received the supplies needed to conduct our cooking projects! We have a toaster/convection oven, blender, pots and pans, measuring cups and spoons and more!

Please watch your child's folder every day and check their homework planner. Math, reading and spelling homework will be given most days and should not take more than 15-30 minutes for your child to complete. Please do not spend more than 30 minutes having your child complete homework.

For students using the Stevenson Program, words are to be written twice on one side with the pattern underlined and again on the folded side by memory. This helps the brain remember the spelling rather than just copying the words.

If they are having difficulty, please write on the homework page what they were having trouble with and I will work with them. Homework will reinforce skills we have already been working on so nothing will be new for them.
Thank you!

We will be going to specials with Grade 5

“Mrs. G.” This will be my twentieth year at Highlands Elementary School. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. My background will enable me to provide an enriching school experience for your child. I am looking forward to an exciting and fulfilling year with the students!

Open communication is the key to a successful school year for your child. Please feel free to express any questions or concerns to me throughout the year by putting a note in your child's folder or emailing  me at school.

Please check your child's folder and planner daily for assignments.

Please let me know if there were any problem areas so that I may work with your child the next day on those skills.
